FAQs – Smart Photo Rename

General Usage

  1. What does Smart Photo Rename do?
    Smart Photo Rename helps you capture, rename, and organize photos, videos, audios, pdf and doc files automatically using context like names, dates, or categories.
  2. Is an internet connection required to use the app?
    No. Most features work offline. Only Google Sign-In, Drive Sync, and subscription verification require the internet.
  3. Where are my renamed files stored?
    All renamed files are stored locally in your device’s storage. If enabled, they are also mirrored to your Google Drive.
  4. Can I organize files for different people, clients, or events?
    Yes. You can create folders based on your own structure (e.g., patient, client, event) and define metadata for each.
  5. Can I rename existing files on my phone?
    Yes. You can import files from your phone, assign metadata, and rename them through the app.

Google Drive & Data Privacy

  1. Does the app access my entire Google Drive?
    No. It only uses a dedicated folder to sync your data. No other Drive content is accessed.
  2. What happens if I revoke Google Drive access?
    The sync will stop. Your data on the device remains safe and usable.
  3. Is my data private?

100%. The app never accesses or stores your files externally. You are in full control.

  1. Is any of my personal data tracked or shared?
    No. The app does not access your data, metadata, or folder contents. Only subscription status and basic crash logs may be used.

Subscription & Licensing

  1. Is the app free to use?
    The app offers a low-cost 3-month trial plan. After that, an annual subscription is required.
  2. Is my subscription valid across multiple devices?
    No. The app is licensed for use on one primary device at a time. Switching devices requires revalidation.
  3. Can I use my Android subscription on iOS (or vice versa)?
    No. Subscriptions are platform-specific and non-transferable between Android and iOS.
  4. How are corporate or voucher subscriptions handled?
    If you’ve received access via a voucher code, your subscription is validated using your email ID. Contact your organization or app support for help.

App Behavior & Technical

  1. What happens if I log out or reinstall the app?
    You can restore app settings and metadata from Google Drive (if sync was enabled). Your data remains safe on your device or Drive.
  2. Can I access or manage folders/files outside the app?
    Yes. You can view and manage your files using your file manager or Google Drive directly.
  3. Why can’t I find storage permission settings?
    Starting Android 11+, scoped storage is used. The app only requests access as needed to manage its own folder.
  4. Can I hide my renamed photos from gallery apps?
    Media may appear in gallery apps, unless excluded in gallery settings. To hide the images from gallery apps, you can use the gallery settings.
  5. Can I see the app’s folders and photos in Google Photos?
    Media may appear in Google Photos depending on your settings. You can turn this off from Google Photos > Settings > “Show photos from other apps.”

  1. How do I report bugs or suggest a feature?

  2. What happens if the app crashes or misbehaves?
    The app may collect anonymous crash logs to help fix the issue. You can also send logs to support faster resolution.
